Implant-Supported Dentures

An implant-supported denture is attached to one or more dental implants that are surgically placed into your jawbone to help you chew food again after tooth loss.

What Is An Implant Supported Denture?

An implant-supported denture is a form of dental restoration that can provide support for full or partial dentures and the ability to eat and speak. The procedure involves implanting one or more titanium posts into your jawbone below the gum line, typically on each side of where your teeth are missing. This process stimulates new bone growth and will anchor the implants securely into place and prevent them from becoming loose over time. Once the area has healed, usually about four months after surgery, we will fit you with custom prosthetics made by an experienced dentist who understands how these implants should fit snugly against their newly formed foundation. Hence, they remain both stable and functional.

We will also make sure that the prosthetics are fitted well to your mouth for them to be both comfortable and easy to speak with, without feeling like they're falling out or not fitting properly. If you have an implant-supported denture, it's important to take good care of these teeth since they're actually part of your jawbone now.

Why Should I Get One?

An implant-supported denture will fill the void when there is no natural tooth left to support a denture. An implant-supported denture can improve your quality of life by giving you back many of the same functions lost when teeth are missing or severely damaged, such as chewing food and speaking clearly. You may also have less trouble with dry mouth because saliva production improves after dental implants, as they help replace the natural root canal system in your mouth. This leads to improved overall oral health for patients who wear them full-time compared to those wearing partial dentures alone.

How Long Will It Take To Heal?

The healing process for implant-supported dentures is similar to that of traditional dentures. However, because the implants are embedded in your jawbone and gums (unlike conventional dentures), they will take longer to heal and be more stable as you chew food. You should wait at least six weeks before biting into a hard food like steak. Taking care of them can also be different from regular dentures; keeping up with dental exams twice a year, brushing twice a day using fluoride toothpaste, flossing daily, eating healthy foods including - these habits will help keep your new teeth clean and strong.
